Acai Palm
The Acai palm (Açaí Palm) is in the palm family of the genus Euterpe. Acai palm and 6 other palm
species are native to Central and South America. Acai palm trees usually grow in floodplains and swamps. Acai palm
is sometimes referred to as Euterpe oleracea, a name derived from the Portuguese name for acai berry juice. Over
time the Acai palm has earned many different names based on Acai fruit and Acai juice.

The fruit of the Acai palm is called Acai fruit or Acai berry fruit. The fruit of the Acai
palm is about 1 inch in diameter similar to a dark purple grape but not as much pulp.

The fruit of Acai palm has one large seed in the middle, similar to a raspberry with one single
seed instead of multiple seeds like grapes or blueberry. Research has shown that Acai berry from Acai palm is one
of the most nutritious foods. Acai berry fruit has subsequently been named "superfood" by a lot of people.
